So much to do...

Click for Friday Harbor, Washington ForecastIn Friday Harbor tour the Whale Museum and then take a half-day whale watching trip or head to Lime Kiln Point State Park to watch from shore. Drive south along the coast and stop at Westside Park to enjoy the view before going on to visit Pelindaba Lavender Farm, the Krystal Acres Alpaca Farm and the tasting room at San Juan Vineyards, just down the road from your room at Inn to the Woods.

Interested in a little history? Drive over to English Camp, part of San Juan Island National Historical Park, for a guided walk and then on to picturesque Roche Harbor and a walk through the Westcott Bay Sculpture Park. There’s still time to visit American Camp for a walk through the colorful meadows or maybe a stroll along driftwood scattered South Beach before you enjoy one of the many fine restaurants in Friday Harbor.

Intriguing shops, excellent art galleries and gourmet restaurants. Fishing for salmon or bass, hiking to the summit of Mount Finlayson or golf at San Juan Island Golf and Country Club. So much to do and we’ve yet to mention sea kayaking, scuba diving and bicycling around the islands! No matter what you choose to do, don’t forget to leave time to enjoy one of our evening treats at the Inn before you call it a day.

No vehicle? M&W Auto Sales will rent you a car, Susie’s Mopeds will rent you a moped and Island Bicycles will rent you a bike. Or, let San Juan Island Transit shuttle bus and taxi service transport you around the island.

Whale watching? Try San Juan Safaris.

Good places to get more ideas about things to do here on the island are the San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau and San Juan Island Web Directory. To find out about events, festivals and other doings here on the island try the San Juan Island Community Calendar, the San Juan Update or the San Juan Islander.

One more thing…many of our shops and galleries stay open all year and with fewer visitors, it’s a great time to visit the islands! In the early spring, the temperatures are between 40 and 60 degrees. Plants bloom; deer, red foxes and other island wildlife have their young and shorebirds nest. In the late fall and winter the temperatures hover between 30 and 50 degrees. Just layer your clothes, bring a sweater and watch the Canadian Geese fly over.
