The Whale Museum
The Whale Museum, located in beautiful Friday Harbor, Washington, opened to the public in 1979 as the first museum in the country devoted to a species living in the wild. Today, the museum continues to promote stewardship of whales and the Salish Sea ecosystem through education and research.
Lime Kiln Point State Park
Lime Kiln Point State Park is a 42-acre Washington state park on the western shore of San Juan Island in the San Juan archipelago. The park is considered one of the best places in the world to view wild orcas from a land-based facility.
San Juan Islands Sculpture Park
The San Juan Islands Sculpture Park was founded in 1998 and was originally called the Westcott Bay Institute for Art & Nature. The park has evolved to offer its visitors a quality experience of art and nature working in harmony.
American Camp
American Camp on San Juan Island is located on the southern end of the island. When Great Britain and the United States agreed to a joint occupation of San Juan until the water boundary between the two nations could be settled, it was decided that American Camp and English Camp would be located on opposite ends of the island.
English Camp
English Camp on San Juan Island is located on the north end of the island on Garrison Bay, 9 miles northwest of Friday Harbor. The Royal Marines lived at English Camp during the peaceful 12-year joint British/U.S. occupation of San Juan Island.
San Juan Islands Whale Watching
Whale watching on the islands is one of our visitors' favorite activities. Whales and other marine life can be spotted from land on view points around the island as well as by sea on whale watching tours.
San Juan Island National Historical Park
Once the site of the British/American standoff in 1859, the park is now home to a variety of educational and cultural attractions as well as opportunities for hiking, biking, ethical wildlife watching, beaches, tidepools, picnics, and more.
